Working draft — private beta. ACE is being tested by a small invited group. Anything below marked [TBD] is a placeholder we have not filled in yet. Everything else describes what the service genuinely does today.

The short version

ACE is free, it is for charity fundraising, and right now it is an early test with a small invited group. Things will break. Be prepared for that.

Your money never comes near us. Donations are made on JustGiving and go to your charity. ACE only reads the total so it can show it.

ACE writes posts about your training in your name. You can always see them before they go out, and what is published under your name is your responsibility.

Who you are agreeing with

These terms are between you and [TBD — legal entity name], of [TBD — registered address], registered as [TBD — company / charity registration number] — referred to below as “we” and “us”. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not sign up.

This is a private beta

ACE is being tested by a handful of invited people. That means, honestly:

  • features will change, appear and disappear without notice;
  • the service may be unavailable, sometimes without warning;
  • data may be lost during the beta — do not treat ACE as the only record of anything you care about;
  • we may end the beta, or your access to it, at any point.

None of that is us being evasive. It is what an early test actually is, and you should go in knowing it.

What ACE does

ACE connects to the tracker you already use, reads the training you have already done, and turns it into something worth donating to: a live page showing your progress, and posts that tell the story of the effort. The intent is that the fundraising looks after itself while you get on with the training.

Your account

Give us details that are true, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at [TBD — contact email] if you think somebody else has got into it.

One account per person. Do not set one up in somebody else’s name.

Connecting your tracker

When you connect Strava or a similar service, you are giving us permission to read your activities and show figures from them on your public fundraising page. You can withdraw that permission whenever you like, either in ACE or in that service’s own settings — new activities then stop arriving.

Your activity data stays yours. You are letting us display it, not handing it over. What we do with it, and what we deliberately never store, is set out in the Privacy notice.

Only connect an account that is actually yours. Do not connect somebody else’s tracker, however willing they are — they need their own account.

Posts written in your name

ACE drafts posts about your training automatically, and they go out under your name. So this matters:

  • you can see what ACE intends to publish before it publishes it;
  • you are responsible for what appears under your name, the same as if you had typed it;
  • automatic writing gets things wrong sometimes — a number, a place, a tone. Check it, and tell us when it misses so we can fix it;
  • you can turn posting off.

Money and donations

We never handle your donations. Money is given on JustGiving and goes from there to your charity, under their terms and their rules, not ours. ACE reads the public total so your page can show it. We take no fee and no cut, and no payment details ever pass through us.

Anything that goes wrong with a donation — a refund, a failed payment, Gift Aid — is between the donor, JustGiving and the charity. We cannot fix it from here, though tell us anyway if your page is showing the wrong number.

What ACE is for, and what it is not for

ACE is for raising money for registered charities and genuine causes. Do not use it to:

  • raise money for anything that is not the cause you have named;
  • publish figures you know to be false, or activity you did not do;
  • post anything unlawful, abusive, or that is not yours to post;
  • break into, overload, scrape or otherwise interfere with the service;
  • impersonate anybody.

We will close an account doing any of this, and where a charity is being misrepresented we will tell them.

If something goes wrong

ACE is provided as it is, with no promises that it will always work or always be accurate. During the beta especially, please do not rely on it for anything where being wrong would cost you.

Nothing here limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Beyond that, and because ACE is free, we are not liable for lost donations, lost income, or other knock-on losses arising from using it.

Stopping

You can stop whenever you want: disconnect your tracker, or email [TBD — contact email] to have your account removed. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless there is a legal reason we cannot.

Closing a sign-in does not by itself delete a live fundraising page and its donation history — that is deliberate, so a page cannot disappear from under the donors who gave to it. Ask us and we will remove the page as well.

Changes

We will update these terms as ACE grows, and change the date at the top when we do. If a change materially affects you, we will email you about it rather than expect you to re-read the page.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute.

Questions about any of this? Email [TBD — contact email].
